International Space Station over Memphis

November 22nd, 2008 by Nigel Merrick

International Space Station makes a flyby over MemphisThis was taken about 6:20pm on 19th November 2008 as the International Space Station (with shuttle Endeavor docked to it) made a great pass over the Memphis area.

This is a 30 second exposure, which means that the length of the trail left by the ISS is about 142 miles long!

This was an unusual pass in that the ISS caught a flare of the setting sun below the horizon and then faded into a coppery orange and finally a very intense dark red, before finally flying into the Earth’s shadow.
