International Space Station over Memphis

This is a 30 second exposure, which means that the length of the trail left by the ISS is about 142 miles long! This was an unusual pass in that the ISS caught a flare of the setting sun below the horizon and then faded into a coppery orange and finally a very intense dark red, before finally flying into the Earth’s shadow. |

This was taken about 6:20pm on 19th November 2008 as the International Space Station (with shuttle Endeavor docked to it) made a great pass over the Memphis area.
